    What is a Radiator?

    A radiator is one of the most important components of your Cadillac’s cooling system. Your engine generates a great deal of heat while it is running. It depends on fluid (known as coolant) in order to keep the engine from overheating. When the coolant is pumped through the engine, it absorbs heat and cools the engine. The hot coolant is then pumped out of the engine and into the radiator. 

    The radiator has passages that are cooled by the outside air flowing over it. As the coolant passes through the passages it is cooled and then pumped back through the engine to start the process over again.

    The cooling passages inside the radiator can become constricted over time with deposits or rust. If this happens, the cooling system can malfunction because the radiator cannot properly cool the coolant which can lead to engine overheating problems.
