    How to know if your alternator is failing?

    • Dim lights: like we said earlier, the alternator powers all the electronics in your car - lights included. When you notice the lights in your car start to dim and you know they’re in good health, the alternator is always a good thing to first check
    • Warning lights: the great thing about the dashboard is that it alerts you of any car issues as soon as they arise. When your alternator is going bad, “alt” or “gen” will light up, letting you know it’s time to get it checked out
    • Weak or dead battery: car batteries weren’t made to last forever, everyone knows that. The alternator can only recharge the battery to a certain point, and the battery also has to be healthy enough to accept the charge. If the battery is too weak or dead, it will not be able to accept the charge.
    • Odd smell: the smell of burning rubber is a great indicator that something is not working the way that it should.
    • Weird sounds: if your alternator becomes too worn down, it’s been known to produce a grinding and whining noise when in use.
